Close cooperation with Singulus and CDA for Blu-ray

  • In a cooperation with Singulus and the German optical disc manufacturer CDA, Dr. Schenk’s ISM.blue+ has once again prevailed as the inspection system of choice.
  • CD/DVD/BD replicators proactively request Dr. Schenk high precision in-line scanners already at the planning stage of their production lines.

Planegg, Germany, October 13, 2008 – The inspection expert Dr. Schenk continues its successful business relations with Singulus Technologies AG, market leader for optical disc production lines and the Germany based CDA Datenträger Albrechts GmbH, one of Europe's largest independent manufacturers of optical storage media. Now that CDA has announced the purchase of a Singulus production line for its Blu-ray Disc production, the three companies closely collaborated and set another perfect example of a fruitful cooperation between inspection supplier, line manufacturer and
disc replicator.

CDA, standing customer of Dr. Schenk for CD and DVD inspection, has announced its latest investment into a Singulus production line for the new Blu-ray Disc business at the end of August. CDA has selected a Dr. Schenk in-line scanner for its new BD production line from Singulus. “Since
our first production days we use inspection systems from Schenk for our CD and DVD lines - and they are still running! We do not want any surprises and have therefore specified the ISM.blue+ from Dr. Schenk right at the planning phase for our Blu-ray line.” says Dr. Nicolaus Hettler, managing director of CDA. The ISM.blue+ has especially convinced the manufacturer by the enhanced BDspecific defect classification and the precise layer thickness measurement. The Schenk scanners’ intuitive visualization and operation software had already been well known to the engineers from the off-line inspection system PROmeteus MT-200.blue, which CDA had purchased during the R&D phase preparing their Blu-ray Disc business. “Having compared several systems during our purchase decision the Schenk system proved to be the best choice for our requirements.”, so Dr. Hettler.
