Metrology Expert Dr. Schenk strengthens market presence for the PV industry in Japan

Dr. Schenk GmbH, leading manufacturers of inspection and measurement solutions for the solar, glass, web and optical media industries worldwide, is now strengthening its business in Asia. After having reached market leadership in the thin film PV area in Europe, North America and important Asian countries, Dr. Schenk is now intensifying its efforts to win the Japanese market. The metrology expert has therefore assigned Mediken Inc. to strengthen the brand’s presence in Japan and support the company with local sales and service functions.

The trading house Mediken Inc. distributes measurement equipment and offers services to the manufacturers of semiconductor, flat panel, optical media and recently thin film PV products. “With the growth of the solar industry in Asia and our already existing customer contacts, the industry-proven metrology solutions for thin film solar panels from Dr. Schenk are the perfect fit to our product range”, says Yuichi Hyakusoku, President & CEO of Mediken Inc. “With the customers demanding a total solution to cover the entire production process, there was no doubt, that SolarInspect and SolarMeasure would be the perfect decision.“ Schenk’s in-line AOI systems are available for all production steps of thin film solar modules and can be combined with a number of beneficial options to provide instant measurement of physical and electronic characteristics of solar modules.

The new distribution partner will also be able to benefit from Dr. Schenk’s success in other product areas. Thanks to the market leadership that the company holds in Japan for the inspection of optical media, the brand name is already recognized as standing for technical know-how, reliable and industry-proven solutions.   

Mediken’s business success and sales figures have constantly grown since its founding in 1991 and nearly doubled in 2008.
