GlassInspect.float is a solution that specializes in the quality assurance and process control of float glass lines in both the architectural and automotive industries. In order to guarantee a constant supply of high quality float glass, the material is inspected for glass defects that endanger a high yield.

The Dr. Schenk inspection solution for float and rolled glass is easily integrated into production lines. The innovative illumination and camera concept, as well as enhanced defect classification, have been optimized for the special requirements of the inspection of continuous glass material.


Higher Yield by an Innovative Illumination Concept

In close cooperation with business partners and customers Dr. Schenk has developed an enhanced defect classification for float glass. The inspection system GlassInspect.float enables manufacturers to reliably distinguish between glass defects, such as bubbles or stones, that can cause problems during further processing, from the “pseudo – defects”.

In order to make this distinction, Dr. Schenk makes use of the characteristics of defects versus contaminations. Whereas the optical signal of a non critical contamination consists of its pure core size, a real glass defect occurs with a much larger deflecting image. Core and deflection can be analyzed reliably by the innovative combination of two illuminations.

Furthermore, by this innovative optical concept the size of a defect can be evaluated with highest accuracy. Thus, the boundary between critical defects and non-critical defects can be set with an unreached precision.
